There is a definite distinction, we feel we all can identify with, from life prior to covid to life after covid. However, for some, there is an in between that one will always remember. That is where the journey to Savvy Frogs Crystals actually began. Some might think that it was built “during” the pandemic out of boredom or a reinvention of self. This couldn’t be furthest from the truth. Savvy Frogs Crystals came to be in the “after” covid period but its roots started in the in-between.
Here is our story...
On July 19th 2021, Vance was admitted to our local hospital approximately 6 hours after walking into the ER. Since we both work at the facility it made it easier for me to keep an eye on him. Nevertheless, in 3 days time, it became quite clear that his ability to breath was declining and the decision was made to transfer him to the ICU.
I wish I could tell you how difficult it is to see the love of your life go from vibrant and healthy one day to laying there, in the ICU, intubated, in about 2 weeks time. It was a nightmare, for myself and our daughters, that just kept getting worse. On August 10th, 2021, the team at the hospital decided that Vance needed far more help than what they could provide him. This is when a med flight team was called in to transport him to Massachusetts General Hospital. Vance always had the desire to ride in a helicopter, just not like this. Oh the irony.
The first week at Mass General was a roller coaster of emotions, for everyone. Things were not good. Ordinary life came to a halt and the only thing that mattered was being with Vance. During this time, my boss gave me a beautiful piece of tumbled malachite. She stated that it was “yelling” at her to give to Vance. My sister suggested making a crystal grid. Now, I had no idea what any of this stuff was, however, I was willing to try ANYTHING and so we spent time looking for the crystals recommended for the grid, played Archangel Raphael healing meditations and prayers during our visiting times (which was very strict), & talked to him during his sedation. The next 6 weeks were filled with highs and mostly lows. I won’t go in detail aside from the simple fact that we thought we would lose him. Then, one day, the doctor recommended one more treatment and if he doesn’t turn around in the next 5 days we will regroup and find solutions to make him comfortable. My heart dropped...
Once again, I reached out to my sister for some spiritual guidance. She suggested a few things to try. Within a few days, Vance had started to turn the corner and prove everyone wrong (because they didn’t think he was going to make it). After what felt like an extremely long and exhausting month and a half, Vance was transferred to a rehab facility close to home where he stayed for the next 10 days.
We hold so much gratitude for the medical community that took care of him and, at the same time, can’t ignore all of the spiritual guidance we received. It was a group effort for sure. Both helped Vance heal.
And so the journey began...
Vance and I started taking classes on crystals and Savvy Frogs was born.
